Public Speaking Video

I think that the message of the video was pretty simple. It was portraying how whenever people get up in front of an audience, their nerves and such gets the best of them. They begin to second-guess themselves, and think that everything they are doing is wrong. The video goes through all of the different feelings that a person goes through as they prepare and give a speech. From the massive amount of sweating, to the gastrointestinal distress, it mentions all of the things that happen to you when you go up to the podium or stage. I think that we can learn from this video by recognizing all of the things it mentioned, and not letting it get to you. Realistically, most people who attempt public speaking go through these things at some point or another. What separates those who can and those who can’t publicly speak well is the person’s ability to ignore or suppress all of those adverse reactions to the anxiety and nervousness.

My favorite movie

My favorite movie would have to be The Princess Bride. The Princess Bride is a fantastic tale of true love, sword fighting, revenge, giants, geniuses, pirates, princesses, and miracles! I watch this movie close to once every two months, just because I like it so much. I haven't read the book, but I plan to. My favorite genre of film would have to be Fantasy. The Lord of The Rings movies are also among my favorite movies. I read a lot of Fantasy Literature, but I think that good fantasy movies are even better, when the director has good vision.

Barbershop Music

My favorite style of music would have to be Barbershop. I've attended 2 of the International Barbershop Conventions, and loved every minute while there. I've seen and heard so many quartets, its insane. This last summer, I went to the 2011 convention in Kansas City, MO. I had the privilege of the seeing The Sun Tones live. They are likely the most famous quartet of all time, and were the 1961 International Champions. Only three of them were still alive, but the 4th man had a substitute who was the son of a previous Sun Tone member. It was a great experience. I love the sound of barbershop harmony, and I like to listen to it more than any other style of music.

I like working with computers

I really like working with computers. Here recently, I've had to do all kinds of things with my Alienware laptop, like work with the RAM sticks, removing and replacing the Hard Drive, and some other things. Before this, I did a lot of work with desktops. Not to mention that I do a whole lot of programming. In general, my drive behind it is the want to learn how everything works. I want to learn how all of the pieces of hardware interface with each other, and perform their individual functions as well. It all just fascinates me so much. The one thing I don't like, however, is when consistent hardware failures happen, and ruin your experience. That is really no fun.

Marching Band

Marching Band is one of the activities that dominates my daily life. I've been in Marching Band now for 4 years. I've been drum major of the marching band for 2 now. Its a very time-consuming activity, and I spend around 3-4 days a week at practices, performance, parades, and other things. I play the trumpet in the marching band, and I have 2 solos in this year's show. I'm really devoted to marching band, and I'd like to participate in marching band during college. I really like watching Drum Corps International. It's pretty much like major league marching band. My favorite corps would have to be Phantom Regiment. Their brass sound is just amazing.
